As a total newbie to running (or exercise) I thought I would start a running blog, a little insight into how my training is going and to have something to look back on when (hopefully) I can run without stopping and the end goal of running my first Great North Run for Walking With The Wounded.
So Just after new year I started back at the gym, walking on the treadmill 3 times a week trying to
improve my fitness levels, looking along the other treadmills watching people running, the fear/anxiety gathering in my throat made me feel like I was being choked. “I will never be able to do that” constantly going through my head.
I started going to the Gym for 6am when it was less busy so it felt like less eyes on me, I upped my walking speed and downloaded the couch to 5k app, I completed my first park run and started walking along the coast on weekends.
That was 8 weeks ago! In such a small period of time I am out running! Yes me!
5.30am 3 times a week I get up, lace my trainers and go out along different routes pushing myself further and further, I still can’t run continuously but I’m trying! Even this morning I ran past a bus stop that I used to get halfway to and stop, my legs ache like nothing I’ve known but no pain no gain right!
Currently, I am doing around 4 miles each run then home to get ready for work, with a stone and a half down too its all helping …. hopefully next months blog will be about how I can run the majority of my route without slipping back into power walking!
If you can sponsor me and the Demob Job team even a small amount, we would be very grateful:
