Just Send Me CVs: Why This Approach Doesn’t Work in Recruitment
The dreaded words no professional recruitment consultant wants to hear:
“Just send me CVs.”
You’d be amazed how often this happens. Companies reach out and expect us to find them their ideal engineer with little more than a job title, a salary bracket, and a short job description.
It happened again this week.
“I’m too busy, just send me CVs.”
Now, I know people are busy — we’re busy ourselves. But here’s the rub: if we don’t fully understand the role, your requirements, the essentials and “nice-to-haves,” the working environment, hours, time away from home, company culture, and so much more, how could you expect us to introduce the right engineer you’ve possibly been looking for all along?
Why an Initial Conversation Matters
The importance of setting aside time at the beginning of our relationship cannot be overstated. A short but structured conversation upfront means:
-
We understand your role in depth.
-
We can present only candidates who truly fit your needs.
-
You save time later by avoiding mismatches and endless CV filtering.
Personally, if I were a hiring manager and a recruitment consultancy wasn’t asking me in-depth questions, I’d start to feel nervous. It suggests they’re working to fill quotas, not to solve your problem.
A Better Way Forward
At Demob Job, we believe in quality over quantity. Rather than flooding you with CVs, we focus on introducing the right candidate, first time. That’s why our clients value our process and continue to partner with us year after year.
So, ask yourself:
👉 Are you confident your current agency partners truly understand who is right for your business?
If you’d like to explore a better way of working together, I’d welcome the chance to talk.
