From Royal Navy Petty Officer to Project Engineer: A Smooth Transition into Civilian Employment
“My experience with Demob Job started with Adrian, the company's MD, contacting me on LinkedIn. After sending my CV I was quickly contacted by Joanne with a suggested role I could be well suited for. Joanne explained the role and informed me of the company and what they do. After expressing my interest, I was invited for an interview the following week and offered the job the week after. Overall, it was a smooth and rapid process. I received regular contact from Joanne by email to complete all the relevant paperwork and documentation, and also by phone with sound advice, words of wisdom, encouragement and reassurance. Joanne made the transition from military to civilian employment easy with no fuss or stress. I will be recommending Demob Job to my former military friends and colleagues.” Dean was a Petty Officer Marine Engineering Technician in the Royal Navy and is now employed as a Project Engineer.
Noel (ex REME Avionic Technician)
Just before I was made redundant I received a phone call from Emma at Demob Job having previously registered on their web site. She asked if I would be interested in applying for a Field Service Manager position. I was sceptical at first but she convinced me to make an application. Unfortunately, I was unsuccessful at the interview but gained some valuable feedback which suggested that I may be more suited to a hands-on role as a Field Service Technician. This led to a further interview and, I am glad to say, a job offer. If I had not let Emma convince me to attend the initial interview I would probably never have even tried for the second position. I would have no hesitation to recommend both Emma and Demob Job to my ex-military colleagues. Field Support Technician, Dorset
Stuart (ex Royal Engineers)
It was clear to see from the start I was in safe hands. Joanne had a clear understanding of the role on offer and my capabilities. Sound advice matched with prompt communication helped this process become stress-free and more personal. The end result was a job offer and a position I can see myself fulfilling for a long time with great career progression and opportunities. Stuart is now a Construction Project Engineer in Somerset.
Richard (ex British Army – Royal Signals Electrician)
I was contacted by Joanne Foster from Demob Job recruitment agency regarding an exciting opportunity within a national engineering company. Throughout the recruitment process I was kept fully informed at every stage of the selection process, the communication was excellent and at no stage was I left not knowing exactly what was expected from me. I would like to thank Joanne for all the hard work she has done over the last four months. Richard is now employed as a Service Engineer in Kent.
Matthew (ex Royal Air Force Aircraft Technician)
This is the first time I have used Demob Job and I must say I'm very impressed. Joanne was very efficient in arranging an interview, highlighting my key skills and attributes to the employer. I successfully managed to capture the role I applied for and I look forward to my new career path. I would highly recommend Demob Job to anyone who is leaving the Armed Forces and is looking for a new and exciting role. Matthew is now employed as a Service Engineer within the Energy Sector.

Justin (ex-Royal Air Force Mechanical Aircraft Technician)
I left the RAF and began the laborious and slightly soul destroying task of searching for a job appropriate to my skill set. I was in contact with an old colleague who linked me to the advertisement posted on Demob Job by Joanne. I carefully read the criteria requested and contacted Joanne who promptly arranged a chat with me via telephone the next day. Joanne advised me of what the job entailed and after a brief informal Q&A, proposed to put me forward for the role of Field Service Engineer at a Marine company. I was thrilled to hear back that the company were interested in speaking to me via web interview initially and I was coached on some salient points to assist me with techniques and common questions. That interview was completed and Joanne kept in touch between myself and the company for feedback. I was then contacted back by Kim as Joanne had a holiday but I was made aware of this well in advance and Kim became my contact. I was delighted to hear that I was invited to the company HQ on Friday for a face to face interview after being shortlisted. I was delighted to be contacted by Kim to give me the good news that I had been offered the job. Joanne and Kim have been amazing throughout and I cannot thank them enough. I would describe Joanne and Kim as dynamic, highly professional, very supportive and confidence inspiring. I would recommend Demob Job to any service leaver be it imminent or out of the services for some time. Field Service Engineer, Durham
