Who are Demob Job?

Demob Job was established in 2005 by our Managing Director Adrian Cheesman after he completed a successful full career in The Royal Corps of Signals.

His vision was to build an ethical and professional recruitment business which would champion the employability of personnel who have previously served in our Armed Forces; Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force.

Since those early days we have continued to grow and now have a focused team of consultants delivering permanent recruitment services to clients all over the UK and overseas.

Our future looks bright as we continue to prosper through planned growth.

From Royal Navy Petty Officer to Project Engineer: A Smooth Transition into Civilian Employment

“My experience with Demob Job started with Adrian, the company's MD, contacting me on LinkedIn. After sending my CV I was quickly contacted by Joanne with a suggested role I could be well suited for. Joanne explained the role and informed me of the company and what they do. After expressing my interest, I was invited for an interview the following week and offered the job the week after. Overall, it was a smooth and rapid process. I received regular contact from Joanne by email to complete all the relevant paperwork and documentation, and also by phone with sound advice, words of wisdom, encouragement and reassurance. Joanne made the transition from military to civilian employment easy with no fuss or stress. I will be recommending Demob Job to my former military friends and colleagues.”  Dean was a Petty Officer Marine Engineering Technician in the Royal Navy and is now employed as a Project Engineer.

Dave (Ex Royal Engineers)

“I saw a post on LinkedIn about Demob Job and then signed up to their site. I continued to monitor for updates, looking for interesting engineering roles in my area.  Once a role grabbed my attention I applied through their site and not long after received a call from Adrian Cheesman.  He talked through my experience, expectations, the employer and the realities of the role.  I have since received an offer of employment and would like to express my sincere thanks to Adrian and Joanne Foster at Demob for their help, support and guidance throughout this process.  I would highly recommend Demob Job to anyone leaving or thinking of leaving the military with an Engineering/Technical background as a route to employment!”.  Dave is now employed as a Field Service Engineer in West Yorkshire.

Noel (ex REME Avionic Technician)

Just before I was made redundant I received a phone call from Emma at Demob Job having previously registered on their web site. She asked if I would be interested in applying for a Field Service Manager position. I was sceptical at first but she convinced me to make an application. Unfortunately, I was unsuccessful at the interview but gained some valuable feedback which suggested that I may be more suited to a hands-on role as a Field Service Technician.  This led to a further interview and, I am glad to say, a job offer. If I had not let Emma convince me to attend the initial interview I would probably never have even tried for the second position. I would have no hesitation to recommend both Emma and Demob Job to my ex-military colleagues. Field Support Technician, Dorset

Andrew (ex Royal Logistic Corps Driver Communications Specialist)

“My journey in finding employment, was not going well until I saw a job advert on Demob Job’s website.  I applied and within a day I had a phone call from Adrian Cheesman talking to me about the job and its responsibilities.  Adrian helped me at every step of the application process which led me to a face-to-face interview along with a driving assessment.  I have now accepted a new job as a Tank Transporter Driver, and I am looking forward to starting in six weeks”.  Andrew is now a Heavy Equipment Transporter (HET) Tank Transporter Driver.

Jamie (previously a Marine Engineer in the Merchant Navy)

Emma was a great help in helping me get the job. She identified what transferable skills I had to match up with the job. I was a little nervous about changing career paths, especially with it being over 10 years since I last had an interview. Emma always kept me in the loop with any updates and gave great advice and information about the job that put my mind at ease and allowed me to go into the interview confident and fully prepared. I would recommend Demob Job and especially Emma to anyone looking for help in finding a new career.  Jamie is now employed as a Maintenance Engineer in the North East.

Nathan (ex Royal Air Force (RAF) Avionics Technician)

Whilst scrolling through the latest job vacancies on LinkedIn, I found a Field Service Engineer position that caught my eye. I wasn’t too sure if Demob Job could help me, as I left the Armed Forces nine years ago. I initially called up Demob Job ex-military recruitment agency to request further details and I spoke to Joanne Foster. Joanne was fantastic at explaining the vacancy further and the recruitment process. The whole process from start to finish was great, with Joanne supporting me at every stage. I cannot thank Joanne enough for her help and guidance. Thoroughly recommend!  Nathan is now employed as a Field Service Engineer in the London area.
