During our call, my goal is to get to know you and your career aspirations. We’ll discuss how we can support you in landing a new role or offer you valuable advice to help you along the way. Best of all, it’s completely free – no cost to you.
One Critical Question You Need to Be Ready For
One of the most important questions I’ll ask is: “When are you available to start work?”
You might be surprised how many people aren’t fully prepared to answer this. But here’s the thing: your future employer needs to know when you’re ready to begin so they can make hiring decisions with confidence.
This leads me to a crucial point.
Have You Confirmed When You Can Officially Leave?
A number of people I speak to say they can leave their military career at any time, but they haven’t yet formally submitted notice to the Armed Forces. If this is you, I strongly recommend getting written confirmation that you’re free to leave when expected.
I know this can be challenging, but having clear evidence that you’re available when you say you are can make all the difference. It reassures both recruiters and future employers that the hiring process will go smoothly if they offer you the role.
The last thing anyone wants is to offer you a job, only to find out later that you can’t leave the Armed Forces as planned. This can be frustrating for everyone involved – including you.
Why Getting Confirmation Matters
When you know with certainty when you’re able to start, it makes your job search much smoother and increases your chances of securing a role quickly. So, if you’re in a position where you haven’t yet given formal notice, I encourage you to take that step or at least get written confirmation of your potential leave date.
It really does make a big difference!
