Technical Support Engineer

I am very excited to partner with a leading UK distributor of engineering products. They are now recruiting for a Technical Support Engineer to join their team in Birmingham. This is an integral position in the business where the successful Technical Support Engineer will be coached and mentored by the Product Manager who has plans to retire and the Technical Support Engineer will eventually step up to the role.

This is a fantastic and exciting opportunity for a mechanically biased engineer who has previously served in the Royal Navy, British Army or Royal Air Force. Although not essential, it would be advantageous if candidates have refrigeration, HVAC or a/c/air conditioning experience. Full training will be given. This will suit a candidate who has hands on engineering experience, looking to step into an office based role with future career progression. In return you will be joining a great company who value and reward their staff. The position offers some fantastic benefits including bonus, generous pension, private healthcare and life assurance.

Technical Support Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Support the Product Manager in maintaining good stock levels of main line refrigeration products and liaise with the buyer to ensure levels are maintained in conjunction with purchasing lead-times.
  • Liaise with suppliers on product technical issues, and product evolution/improvement.
  • Provide technical support for the products we sell in the field, via email/telephone or if necessary, site visits.
  • Source new products to add to our portfolio or remove products that are not required any longer due to low sales turnover.
  • Support the internal technical staff during holiday, sickness or busy periods, this involves cold-room calculations, equipment selections and providing customer quotations.

Technical Support Engineer Requirements:

  • Solid mechanical engineering background with a relevant qualification.
  • Ideally you will have experience of working with refrigeration/HVAC/air conditioning.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • A willingness to learn.

Technical Support Engineer Benefits:

  • Salary is circa £40,000 per annum.
  • Monday to Friday – 35 hours per week.
  • Hybrid working model once initial training is completed.
  • Performance based PRP bonus scheme.
  • Generous pension scheme.
  • Private healthcare plan.
  • Life assurance scheme.
  • 25 days holiday p/a plus statutory bank holidays, increasing with service.
  • Full training will be given along with coaching and mentoring by the Product Manager.
