I am currently recruiting on behalf of my client for a Marine Field Service Engineer to join a specialist engineering business supporting the global shipping industry. This is a technically demanding, hands-on role where you’ll be responsible for servicing, overhauling and repairing marine exhaust gas turbochargers both in the UK and across the globe.
This opportunity will particularly suit engineers who thrive in a field service environment and enjoy worldwide travel. Due to the nature of the role, you should be comfortable spending extended periods away from home, working overtime when required and participating in an on-call rota to support customers. Overtime is paid, and all travel and accommodation expenses are covered whilst working away.
Marine Field Service Engineer Responsibilities:
- Service, overhaul and repair marine exhaust gas turbochargers.
- Carry out planned maintenance, inspections and mechanical fault finding on customer equipment.
- Work on turbochargers manufactured by ABB/Accelleron, MAN and MET.
- Strip, inspect, measure and rebuild components to manufacturer specifications.
- Produce accurate service reports and technical documentation.
- Work both within the Southampton workshop and at customer sites throughout the UK and worldwide.
- Respond to planned maintenance and breakdown support requirements.
- Maintain the highest standards of health, safety and customer service.
Marine Field Service Engineer Requirements:
- Hands-on experience servicing and repairing ABB/Accelleron, MAN or MET marine turbochargers.
- Previous experience within a marine engineering environment.
- Strong mechanical engineering, overhaul and fault-finding skills.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment and working to engineering tolerances.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce technical reports.
- Full UK driving licence.
- A flexible approach to working, including extensive worldwide travel, regular overnight stays, overtime and participation in an on-call rota.
