GSE Technician – Days

My client is seeking a skilled and motivated GSE Technician to join their workshop team at London Heathrow Airport on a day shift, 4 on / 4 off rota. This role would suit an experienced engineer from a commercial or ex-military background who is looking to work within a safety-critical aviation environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance and repair of a wide range of powered Ground Support Equipment (GSE), supporting airside operations during core daytime activity.

GSE Technician Responsibilities:

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance of powered GSE, including tugs, loaders, belt loaders and other airside equipment
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults
  • Complete inspections, brake tests and safety checks in line with regulatory requirements
  • Accurately complete job cards and inspection reports using electronic systems/tablets
  • Liaise with the Workshop Supervisor regarding additional work, defects or parts required
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with Health & Safety regulations, Safe Systems of Work and ISO standards
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards within the workshop and airside areas

GSE Technician Requirements:

  • Previous experience maintaining vehicles, plant machinery or Ground Support Equipment
  • Strong mechanical knowledge (electrical and hydraulic experience desirable)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good awareness of health & safety within a safety-critical environment
  • Confident using tablets or electronic job systems
  • Forklift licence desirable
  • Must be able to obtain airside security clearance
  • Full UK driving licence required
