Mechanical Engineer

I am currently working with a company who have been established for over 100 years and operate in a very niche and interesting sector. They are now recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to join their team at their site in Ide Hill, Kent. Working Monday to Thursday, the successful Mechanical Engineer will carry out the service, maintenance and repair of equipment within the workshop and at client sites. The successful candidate must be willing to travel throughout the southeast of the UK.

This is an interesting role and you will work a four day week for a family run company who are well established. You will visit some interesting places where no two days are the same and you will be challenged with fixing historical items.

Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Travel to customer sites, liaising with customers and carry out the repair, maintenance and servicing of equipment.
  • You will need to work at height and gain access and work via ladders/ scaffolding/Cherry Picker/ Spider lifts etc.
  • Attending site and helping to erect/dismantle scaffolding.
  • Liaise with the Operations Manager to produce work as required and to ensure the next day installation work is organised.
  • When attending a site pay particular attention to the variable risks encountered on unfamiliar sites (check specific risk assessments) and be aware of all Health and Safety considerations.
  • Ensure completion of the paperwork and that all times materials, expenses, and mileage are recorded.

Mechanical Engineer Requirements:

  • Mechanical engineering experience ideally with a recognised engineering qualification.
  • Happy to travel to locations throughout the southeast of the UK.
  • Good problem solving skills with a can-do attitude.
  • Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Hold full UK driving licence.

Mechanical Engineer Benefits:

  • Up to £33,000 per annum.
  • Monday – Thursday 7am – 5.30pm.
  • Overtime payable.
