Introduction:
Are you a mechanical engineer who has previously served in the military or due to leave your military career? Do you have experience of rotating equipment and machinery? Our client is currently recruiting for a Mechanical Workshop Fitter at their site in Camberley. The successful candidate will carry out repairs, service and maintenance to customers’ equipment within the workshop; this involves the disassembly and re-assembly of a variety of large rotating mechanical equipment.

STARTING SALARY £27,787, RISING TO £28,762 AFTER COMPLETION OF PROBATIONARY PERIOD. 25 DAYS HOLIDAY, INCLUDING BANK HOLIDAYS, BUY AND SELL SCHEME UP TO 5 DAYS, CHRISTMAS SHUTDOWN, PENSION SCHEME, SIMPLY HEALTH PLAN.

Mechanical Workshop Fitter Responsibilities:
- Stripping a variety of equipment in preparation for inspection.
- Cleaning of equipment in order to service/repair, including jet washing and chemical cleaning.
- Dismantling and reassembling of gearboxes.
- Rebuilding equipment following guidelines.
- Use of technical drawings to assist in disassembly and re-assembly.
- Using a variety of standard hand and specialist tools.
- Handling medium to heavy duty equipment.
- Operating overhead cranes and lifting equipment.
- Understanding of Health and Safety and correct PPE.

Mechanical Workshop Fitter Applicant Requirements:
Essential:
- Mechanical Engineer with relevant qualifications or completion of appropriate apprenticeship.
- Experience or working with hand tools and disassembly and re-assembly of mechanical equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering diagrams.
- Knowledge of health and safety at work and use of PPE.
- Team player with the ability to work on own initiative.
Desirable:
- Experience of using cranes, slings and stacker trucks.

Mechanical Workshop Fitter Benefits:
- Salary starts at £27,787 rising after completion of probationary period to £28,762.
- Monday to Friday – 37½ hours (7am – 4pm Mon – Thur, 7am – 3pm Fri)
