Our client is a leading supplier of facility services to the Ministry of Defence and they now have an immediate requirement for a Principal Authorising Engineer (HV & LV) who will be based from home in Birmingham, West Midlands and covering predominantly the Manchester, Glasgow, Kent, Northampton area as well as the rest of the UK. The successful Principal Authorising Engineer will be responsible for being part of the compliance team and setting up the companies safe systems of work safety rules for high risk activity.

SALARY IS £60,000 - £65,000, CAR / CAR ALLOWANCE, 32 DAYS HOLIDAY (INCLUDING BANK HOLIDAYS), PENSION, LIFE ASSURANCE PLUS OTHER BENEFITS TO BE DISCUSSED AT INTERVIEW STAGE

Principal Authorising Engineer Responsibilities:
- Define the competency requirements for authorised persons, designated persons / skilled persons across the companies’ FM portfolio.
- Lead a team of authorising engineers and coordinating Aps to coach and mentor operations managers, Aps and operatives on what good SSOW compliance delivery requires.
- Audit site performance and deliver corrective actions using SMART principle, to be logged on the company action tracker.
- Investigate compliance issues, liaising with clients and enforcement authorities as required.
- Support margin improvement strategy by identifying and analysing innovative technology to reduce core service costs and any associated penalties.
- Contribute to bidding process, support work winning and prioritise oversight of mobilising contracts to ensure all compliance risk is identified, analysed and mitigated in line with commercial and financial peers.
- Ensure the compliance system is a robust reference for future bids and in line with / or in excess of industry standards.
- Oversee supply chain quality to deliver service excellence for compliance.
- Support and reflect the companies culture within the business ensuring a culture of compliance.

Principal Authorising Engineer Requirements:
- The successful candidate must be a chartered engineer with experience of working as an Authorising Engineer.
- Professionally recognised technical compliance expert with senior accreditation from relevant industry institutions.
- This role will require both a specific qualification in Electrical Systems and a general experience in SSOW policy / common requirements setting.
- Experienced critical incident investigator, ideally with recognised qualifications in this field.
- Managed a business improvement or change management project.
- Experience of delivering against a business plan / objectives – including holding responsibility for the management of resources.
- Provided a significant contribution to a bid or mobilisation.

Principal Authorising Engineer Benefits:
- £60,000 - £65,000 Salary depending on experience.
