Introduction:
Our client is based in Southampton, they provide a specialist engineering service to customers within the Marine Industry. Due to continued expansion they are now recruiting for a Workshop Engineer/Coordinator. The successful Workshop Engineer/Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring the workshop facility is maintained to a high standard, control manufacturer’s work and assist with engineering work in the workshop.

SALARY IS £24,000 - £28,000 PAYABLE DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE, WHICH RISES TO £25,200 - £29,400 AFTER SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF A 3 MONTH PROBATIONARY PERIOD, COMPANY VAN AND FUEL IS SUPPLIED, COMPANY BONUS SCHEME, 28 DAYS PAID HOLIDAY PER YEAR, RISING BY 1 DAY PER YEAR UP TO A MAXIMUN OF 31 DAYS AFTER 3 YEARS OF SERVICE.

Workshop Engineer/Coordinator Responsibilities:
- Re-organising Workshop and fit out of engine overhaul workshop.
- Stock take and control of special tool store.
- Catalogue and organise engine spares.
- Clear workshop of old parts and arrange disposal as per Company procedures.
- Maintain and calibrate workshop equipment when required.
- Control workshop consumables.
- Carry out engine overhaul work in workshop, maintain records of work carried out, select correct parts required and liaise with third party contractors/suppliers.
- Organise testing of complete work as per customer’s specification. Carry out manufacturer’s training on two engines within manufacturer’s product range.
- Take on responsibility for manufacturer’s warranty work, claims processing and control of failed parts as per manufacturer’s requirements. Attend manufacturer’s warranty training courses both instructor led and online.
- Prepare estimates for issue to customers.
- Prepare parts required for engineering jobs that are carried out by Technicians.
- Booking and removing parts to job cards as required.
- Assisting parts department when required.

Workshop Engineer/Coordinator Requirements:
- Good knowledge of diesel engines and their associated components.
- Hands on experience of servicing, repairing and overhauling diesel engines to technician level.
- Experience of working in a busy and varied engineering organisational role.
- Attention to detail and problem solver
- Methodical and structured approach to work to see tasks through to completion.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise.
- Strong team player and ability to show initiative to find solutions.
- IT literate.
- Hold a valid UK driving licence.

Workshop Engineer/Coordinator Benefits:
- Salary £24,000 to £28,000 per annum depending on experience (rising to £25,200 / £29400 after satisfactory completion of 3 months probationary period).
- Overtime available March, April & May.
- Monday to Friday - 42 hour working week – 8am to 5pm Monday to Thursday and 8am to 4.30pm Friday.
- 28 days of paid holiday per year and 1 extra day a year up to a maximum of 3 after 3 years of service.
