Introduction:
My client is an established production facility based in South Shields. They are now recruiting for a Quality Engineer to join their team. Reporting to the Quality Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for performing process audits, analysing quality data to draw up conclusions, maintaining quality assurance documentation and is actively involved in process improvement activities.

This presents itself as an ideal opportunity to join an established company and, although not essential, could be well suited for a person who has previously served in HM Armed Forces i.e. Royal Navy, British Army or Royal Air Force (RAF) with a proven quality background within engineering/manufacturing.


Responsibilities:
- Perform process/products audits in order to assure effectiveness of Quality Assurance systems.
- Maintain Quality Assurance documentation system in order to provide organisation with up to date information.
- Assist Quality Manager in resolving day to day quality issues that arise in manufacturing in order to improve quality and Customer Satisfaction through on time deliveries.
- Oversee and manage the incoming inspection area in order to assure the quality of incoming goods.
- Analyse quality data as appropriate and draw conclusions and implement recommendations in order to improve quality process.
- Investigate customer concerns in order to determine root cause and implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Liaise with suppliers regarding quality improvements.
- Facilitate process improvement activities in order to improve the quality and yield of manufacturing processes – deputising where needed for Quality Manager.


Applicant Requirements:
Essential:
- Hold NVQ level 3/ONC/HNC in an Engineering/Manufacturing related discipline.
- Proven experience within a quality department in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of quality assurance techniques and tools related to manufacturing processes.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and understanding the concept of Quality.
- Ability to analyse quality data effectively.
- Experience of conducting training sessions.
- Working knowledge of MS Excel, Power-point and Word.
- Working knowledge of IS09001.
- Highly motivated.
- Team player with the ability to work on own initiative.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Structured and well organised.


Benefits:
- £30,000 - £36,000 per annum.
- Monday – Thursday 8am – 5pm, Friday 8am – 1pm.
- 25 days holiday + bank holidays.
