Introduction:
My client is an established production facility based in South Shields. They are now recruiting for a Multi Skilled Maintenance Technician to join their team. Reporting to the Engineering Manager the successful candidate will work as part of a team responsible for planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown tasks to production machinery and plant equipment, ensuring the smooth running of the facility. The working arrangements are currently organised on a Continental Shift Pattern, however, this is subject to change in line with the needs of the business – so candidates must be flexible.

This presents itself as an ideal opportunity to join an established company and, although not essential, could be well suited for a person who has previously served in HM Armed Forces i.e. Royal Navy, British Army or Royal Air Force (RAF) with strong mechanical/electrical maintenance skills ideally within a production/manufacturing environment. Responsibilities:
- Ensure that production machinery and equipment is achieving maximum efficiency.
- Where faults occur, identify the root causes and implement suitable corrective actions.
- Identify and implement improvements to be made to existing equipment within the manufacturing facility.
- Participate in the identification, production and implementation of essential documentation needed to ensure consistency of process, products and parts.
- Carry out line change-overs where necessary.
- Promote adherence to safety standards and a culture of safety awareness.


Applicant Requirements:
Essential:
- Proven Mechanical/Electrical engineering background.
- Hold a relevant engineering qualification to a minimum of ONC level or equivalent.
- Ability to diagnose and repair faults on electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Strong technical, analytical and communication skills.
- High levels of self-motivation, drive & commitment.
- Flexible, can do approach.
- Structured and well organised.
- Enjoy problem solving.
- Team player with the ability to work on own initiative.


Benefits:
- Up to £28,560 per annum.
- Shift Allowance of 25%, when working shifts.
- Overtime payable.
- Current working arrangements are continental 12 hours shifts 4 day 7am – 7pm / 4 nights 7pm -7am rotating, however could change to dayshifts as and when required.
- 25 days holiday + bank holidays.
