Introduction: 
Our client is one of the UK's leading support services companies.  They deliver many key services including design, build, manage, operate and maintaining assets dealing with companies both in the UK and overseas, supplying customers in a wide variety of industry sectors including Defence, Marine, Naval, MoD, Nuclear, Communications, Energy and Transportation. They now require a Site Health & Safety Advisor to be based at their site in Helensburgh, Glasgow.  The successful candidate will assist staff at all levels in discharging their Health & Safety duty of care, to prevent accidents and ill health in order to create an accident and injury free workplace.  You will investigate accidents and incidents to provide advice and prevent recurrences.

This presents itself as an ideal opportunity to join an established company and, although not essential, could be well suited for a person who has previously served in the Armed Forces i.e. Army, Royal Navy or Royal Air Force (RAF) and has previously worked within a similar role.

Responsibilities:
- Provide technical and professional support required to facilitate compliance with the Health & Safety at work Act 1974 an all subsequent delegated legislation.
- Provide competent professional Health & Safety support, advice and direction to Company and MoD Directors, Heads of Department, Managers, Team Leaders and Employees so as to ensure they are compliant with current legislation, MoD requirements and in line with industry best practice.
- Review Line Managers Risk Assessments to ensure they are correctly formatted and meet the required standards.
- Where appropriate, serve internal enforcement notices on Company Directors and Heads of Department to ensure serious breaches of health and safety legislation and policy are dealt with at the appropriate level.
- Conduct site compliance checks on targeted criteria and areas to ensure compliance with company policies and legislation.
- Produce audit reports.
- Carry out safety tours and inspections on board the nuclear submarines fleet and surface flotilla as well as shore based facilities and buildings to identify significant hazards.
- Communication Health & Safety issues via SHEF meetings, toolbox talks, attendance at review boards etc. 
- Maintenance of computer based Health & Safety systems.

Applicant Requirements:
Essential:
- NEBOSH General Certificate.
- Significant experience in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Thorough understanding of legal and statutory frameworks.
- Team Player.
- Demonstrable organisation and planning skills.
- Excellent communication skills - verbal and written.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.

Benefits:
- Salary £32,422 - £36,486.
- Monday - Friday.
- 25 Days holiday plus 8 stats.
