Introduction:
My client is a leading provider of engineering solutions to a number of industries. Due to continued expansion they now have a requirement for a Mechanical Fitters to join their team at their site in Camberley. The successful candidates will carry out repairs, service and maintenance to customers’ equipment within the workshop; this involves the disassembly and re-assembly of a variety of large rotating mechanical equipment.

This presents itself as an ideal opportunity to join an established company and, although not essential, could be well suited for a person who has previously served in the Armed Forces i.e. Army, Royal Navy (Marine Engineer), or Royal Air Force/RAF (Aircraft Engineering Technician) with a mechanical engineering background and experience with large rotating equipment.


Responsibilities:
- Stripping a variety of equipment in preparation for inspection.
- Cleaning of equipment in order to service/repair, including jet washing and chemical cleaning.
- Dismantling and reassembling of gearboxes.
- Rebuilding equipment following guidelines.
- Use of technical drawings to assist in disassembly and re-assembly.
- Using a variety of standard hand and specialist tools.
- Handling medium to heavy duty equipment.
- Operating overhead cranes and lifting equipment.
- Understanding of Health and Safety and correct PPE.


Applicant Requirements:
Essential:
- Mechanical Engineer with relevant qualifications or completion of appropriate apprenticeship.
- Experience or working with hand tools and disassembly and re-assembly of mechanical equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering diagrams.
- Knowledge of health and safety at work and use of PPE.
- Team player with the ability to work on own initiative.
Desirable:
- Experience of using cranes, slings and stacker trucks.
