Introduction:
Our client is a leading manufacturer of electrical equipment. They are now recruiting for a Quality Engineer at their site in Manchester. The successful candidate will improve product and process quality, reduce waste and customer complaints.

This presents itself as an ideal opportunity to join an established company and, although not essential, could be well suited for a person who has previously served in the Armed Forces i.e. Royal Navy, Army, or Royal Air Force (RAF). Candidates wishing to apply must have experience in a similar role within a manufacturing/production environment.


Responsibilities:
- This is a hands-on role and will require a lot of time working on the shop floor with operators and supervisors to
improve our product and process quality.
- Improve the manufactured product quality by reducing the Total cost of Quality - customer complaints, rework,
scrap, etc.
- Maintain ISO9001 approved status by continually improving our process documentation, training and visibility.
- Work with the Engineering team to specify new machinery, including the writing of SOPs to instruct operators how
to set machinery to deliver right first-time quality product.
- Manage the supplier reject process including all supplier communication, returns, logging and producing statistics.
- Participate in supplier meetings to increase the focus on quality of our raw materials.
- Work closely with Sales to re-enforce the companies ‘Product Quality’ messages to customers.
- Work with the Team Leaders to improve process and machine quality.
- Recommend capital projects where step changes in quality can be achieved with justification. This will include
refurbishment of existing equipment.
- Able to bring a structured approach to problem solving – FMEA, 6Sigma, 8D etc.
- Participate in general improvement projects and proactively seek out areas for improvement.
- Carry out other duties as required to support the business.


Applicant Requirements:
- Hold a relevant engineering qualification to minimum level 3/HNC/HND.
- Strong technical background in machine led production.
- Confident, assertive and enthusiastic communicator.
- Good team player who can manage and influence team colleagues.
- IT literate.


Benefits:
- Salary Circa £30,000.
- Monday to Thursday 7.30am – 4.30pm, Friday 7.30am – 12pm.
- 24 days holiday plus bank holidays.
