Introduction:
Our client is a leading manufacturer of electrical equipment. They are now recruiting for a Production Engineer at their site in Manchester. The successful candidate will drive machine uptime and performance within manufacturing.

This presents itself as an ideal opportunity to join an established company and, although not essential, could be well suited for a person who has previously served in the Armed Forces i.e. Royal Navy, Army, or Royal Air Force (RAF). Candidates wishing to apply must have experience in a similar role within a manufacturing/production environment.


Responsibilities:
- Improve the effectiveness of all production machinery from a process and mechanical efficiency perspective
particularly in the drawing area.
- Assist with the sourcing and specification of new and replacement 2nd hand machinery.
- Plan, install and commission new machinery, including the writing of SOPs to instruct operators how to use the
machinery.
- Assist in the repair and maintenance of machinery where required.
- Assess machinery, die, product performance to increase the productivity of machines.
- Work with the Team Leaders to improve machine performance and set the standard for running products with
regard to quality and speed.
- Recommend capital projects where step changes in productivity can be achieved with justification. This will include
refurbishment of existing equipment.
- Take responsibility for delivering Capital Projects once signed off to ensure on time delivery and effectiveness of
the machinery on commissioning.
- Participate and lead, where applicable, supplier meetings for machinery and materials.
- Monitor the performance of machinery and equipment suppliers to ensure on time delivery.
- Participate in general improvement projects and proactively seek out areas for improvement.
- Carry out other duties as required to support the business.


Applicant Requirements:
- Hold a relevant engineering qualification to minimum level 3/HNC/HND.
- Strong technical background in machine led production.
- Confident, assertive and enthusiastic communicator.
- Good team player who can manage and influence team colleagues.
- IT literate.


Benefits:
- Salary Circa £30,000.
- Monday to Thursday 7.30am – 4.30pm, Friday 7.30am – 12pm.
- 24 days holiday plus bank holidays.
