Introduction:
Our client is a leading manufacturing company based at Fort William, Scottish Highlands. Due to continued expansion they are now looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join their existing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the planned preventative and reactive maintenance across the plant. In order to be considered for the role it is essential that you have a very strong mechanical engineering background but also with some electrical engineering experience.

Although not essential, this may be well suited to candidates coming from an (ex-military) background i.e. Royal Navy (Marine Engineer/Technician), British Army (REME Vehicle Technician/Plant Mechanic or Royal Air Force (RAF) Mechanical Technician. It is important that you know about steam boilers, hydraulic, compressed air systems also working knowledge of electrical and electronic processes.

This role is day shift with the occasional late evening if needed. It is Monday – Friday and working between 6am and 6pm.

Responsibilities:
- Working as part of the team you will be responsible for carrying out planned maintenance and reactive maintenance tasks.
- Attend machine breakdowns and repair equipment as required working to a high professional standard.
- Get involved with new installations and upgrades, to work with site management team to identify future issues and solutions, seek and implement process improvements and ensure efficient and safe operations at all times.
- Work with a variety of different machinery including equipment such as steam boilers, hydraulic & compressed air systems.
- Any other associated tasks as required.

Applicant Requirements:
- The successful candidate must have a strong mechanical engineering background and ideally hold an HNC or equivalent in engineering or related subject.
- Experience within a service, maintenance or plant commissioning environment.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Sound communicator.
- Self-motivated, able to work using own initiative.
- Enjoy problem solving.
- Full driving licence.
