Introduction:
Our client is a provider of power, water and gas infrastructure for the Public and Private sectors. They now have an immediate requirement for a Cable Jointer to join their existing team. Working in a two-man team, the successful candidate will work alongside an existing member of staff and will travel to different customer sites located in the North East area ranging from Newcastle to Middlesbrough as well as Yorkshire. A flexible approach to working hours will be essential as you will be required to take part in an out-of-hours callout rota, as well as weekend working as and when required.

This presents itself as an ideal opportunity to join an established company, and although not essential, could be well suited for a person who has previously served in the armed forces i.e. Army, Royal Navy or Royal Air Force (RAF) and has previously worked within a similar role.

Responsibilities:
- The successful candidate will assist in the supply, installation and maintenance of HV and LV electricity distribution systems involving cable jointing, linking, switching and terminations.
- Involved in all aspects of work on DNO and underground cable networks.
- Undertake new works as directed by line management.
- Assist in various projects at client sites including HV and LV cable diversions.
- Jointing and termination of high and low voltage cables.
- HV and LV cable jointing on all cable types including Waveform, Consac, PILC, SWA, CAS, Polymeric and XLPE.
- HV network alterations which can include the installation of HV cabling.
- Working on DNO / IDNO systems and private networks.
- Use all relevant tools and equipment necessary for the completion of work within stringent safety guidelines and be responsible for the safe use of said tools and equipment.
- Due to the nature of this role, you will be required to travel to and from client’s sites, you may be required to work away from home on occasions and evening and weekend may also be required.

Applicant Requirements:
Essential:
- Strong electrical engineering background gained via a relevant apprenticeship and/or relevant electrical engineering qualification (i.e. City & Guilds, NVQ, BTEC).
- Relevant working background within a similar role is essential.
- DNO or IDNO authorised is essential.
- Previous working knowledge of cabling is also essential obtained from the commercial and/or industrial sectors.
- Flexible approach to working hours is essential.
- Ability to plan and prioritise workload and work under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Decision making skills.
- Self-motivated.
- Good safety ethics.
- Team Player.
- Full Driving License.

Benefits:
- Pension Scheme.
- Monday – Friday 37 hour week, however some evening and weekend work may be required at times.
