Introduction:
My client is a leading provider of engineering solutions within their industry. They provide turnkey solutions to their client base across the UK. Due to continued development and expansion they now have a requirement for a Mechanical Engineering Technician to join their team at their site in Newcastle upon Tyne. The successful candidate will work alongside engineers and technicians at all levels within the business on commercial client projects and internal R&D initiatives.

Although not essential, this may be well suited to candidates coming from an (ex-military) background i.e. Royal Navy, British Army or Royal Air Force, with a mechanical engineering bias and proven experience of working with test rigs and equipment.


Responsibilities:
- Carry out materials sampling, organise chemical analysis and preparation of the draft report to client.
- Carry out site inspections, record information and assist in the preparation of the report to client.
- Assist in failure investigations, carrying out duties assigned by Senior / Principal Engineers.
- Carry out site surveys and site audits.
- Carry out designated duties (assigned by the Senior / Principal Engineer, Engineering Services) in experimental testing programmes.
- Liaise with clients, and engineers from other groups, on technical and other matters.
- Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with company Health & Safety regulations.
- Maintain an awareness of company Quality Assurance requirements.
- Take a positive and proactive approach to the promotion of all aspects of the company.


Applicant Requirements:
Essential:
- Proven mechanical engineering background with relevant qualification.
- Experience within a technical role involving the use and understanding of test equipment and test rigs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Problem solving and analytical skills.
- Proactive approach with good attention to detail.
- Competent in drafting technical reports.
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
