Our client is a leading supplier of products to the construction and highways industries. Due to continued expansion they now have the requirement for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team at their site in Chipping Sodbury. The successful candidate will have overall responsibility for the quantity surveying function and commercial performance of all company contracts. The successful candidate must be willing to undertake the relevant training courses and security checks.

- Provide support to the Project Team in pre-contract and tender activities.
- Maintain compliance with the terms & conditions for contracts & sub-contracts awarded to the company.
- Administer works in accordance with NEC type contract, including (but not limited too) valuations, early warning notices, and compensation events.
- Assist Project Lead as required, including providing professional advice on financial and contractual matters.
- Negotiate with the clients representative to agree compensation events, including financial and time effects.
- Establish financial management and control systems for contract execution.
- Ensure that control procedures are in place and adhered to in all areas of the business, including creating such processes as required and not currently in place.
- Manage revenue, cost, cash collection and the reporting function during the life of all allocated contracts.
- Manage month end accounting and reporting of project in line with company requirements.
- Produce profit and loss forecasts.
- Update risk register to reflect contract changes, mitigation and occurrence.
- Review and check payments made by the customer, including monitoring due dates for payment (dates include maintenance periods & staged payments).
- Manage administrators responsible for collating delivery information for submission to client, and for payment of suppliers .
- Coordinate weekly, monthly, six weekly and 6 monthly tonnage forecasts to supplying depots with the assistance of the Logistics manager.
- Involvement in procurement and engagement of sub-contractors and suppliers, including defined responsibilities, terms and condition and contract documentation.
- Monitoring and administering subcontracts, including agreeing valuations and claims.
- Prepare and agree subcontractor payment certificates for allocated contracts.
- Produce financial and commercial reports and forecasts as required for the Project Lead and others as directed.
- Be able to work independently and without supervision.
- Report on unsafe practices observed when visiting sites.
- Have knowledge of the statutory requirements governing the company’s work (including health & safety) as applicable to their scope of work.

Applicant Requirements:
- Recognised Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
- Must have experience of NEC forms of contract.
- Proven experience within a relevant industry.
- Good working knowledge and experience of administering an NEC contract.
- In-depth experience of Quantity Surveying work, associated procedures and practices.
- Strong record in cost management and construction procurement.
- Have quantitative and qualitative market understanding.
- Demonstrable persuasion and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage change.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface at all levels.
- IT Literate.
- Hold full UK driving licence.
