Introduction:
Our client is a leading solutions provider in the field of Communications. Due to continued expansion they are now looking for a Communications Systems Installation Engineer to join their team. The successful candidate will travel to customer sites throughout the UK and worldwide carrying out the installation, commissioning and test of the company’s range of communications systems. Candidates wishing to be considered for the role must be prepared to travel extensively and stay away from home on a regular basis.

This is an exciting and challenging role and in return you will earn a competitive salary and allowances. Due to the nature of the role, candidates must either hold SC security clearance or be willing to undertake this. Although not essential, this may be well suited to candidates coming from an (ex-military) background i.e. Royal Navy (Communications/Weapons), Army (Royal Signals) or Royal Air Force (RAF), especially those who have installed radio communications and have a strong understanding of the RF domain. Candidates with this background are encouraged to apply.


Responsibilities:
- Plan, provide and organise an installation and commissioning service at locations and for such durations as required by the Company.
- Carry out technical training courses as required, including on-the-job, maintenance and operator training on site, within the UK and overseas.
- Support build and test on site.
- Perform customer-attended Factory Acceptance Testing.
- Conduct site surveys.
- Provide Field Service functions and technical support at exhibitions, displays etc both within the UK and overseas as required, for example - erecting stands, ensuring goods are serviceable and set up correctly.
- Ensure the customer’s comments, problems etc are fed back via a report to appropriate departments (QA and Engineering etc).
- Provide technical feedback to the Engineering Department.
- Provide assistance to all functions of the business.
- Take a positive and proactive approach to the promotion of all aspects of the company.


Applicant Requirements:
- Hold a relevant qualification in Telecommunications/Electronics, NVQ Level 3, HNC.
- Extensive theoretical and practical experience of communications equipment installation, commission and test as well as a systems engineering background
- Good working knowledge of RF communications equipment.
- IT literate.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interface at all levels.
- Demonstrable interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to build rapport with customers.
- Willingness to work as part of a team and able to work under pressure as necessary.
- Ability to use own initiative and be self-sufficient when off site.
- Flexibility to travel and be away for prolonged periods.
- Be SC cleared or able to hold an SC clearance.
- Hold a full clean driving licence.
