Our client based in Merton, South West London is a leading production facility with customers all over the UK. They have a number of locations across the UK and are currently looking to expand their site and recruit a Logistics Manager to join the team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading, managing and coordinating the logistics team. Working closely with the production team to ensure distribution has maximum efficiency and economy, improving people development and developing a lean culture.

This presents itself as an ideal opportunity to join an established company and, although not essential, could be well suited for a person who has previously served in the Armed Forces i.e. Army, Royal Navy or Royal Air Force (RAF), Royal Logistics, Motor Transport section and has previously worked as a Logistics Manager / Logistics Supervisor / Transport Supervisor. 

- Monitoring the quality, quantity, cost and efficiency of the movement and storage of goods.
- Budgetary management of the Logistics department.
- Building a Logistics Team including drivers and administrative staff and monitoring staff training and development issues.
- Ensure vehicle and driver compliance with O licence, site EU and other legal requirements, monitoring, analyzing the results and ensuring corrective action is implemented to continuously improve the working environment.
- Ensure risk assessments are undertaken and implemented on customer premises for major changes / new business when required as advised by the relevant customer account team.
- Analysing logistical problems and producing new solutions.
- Coordinating drivers, vehicles, loads and journeys; operating the logistics IT system.
- Ensure all driver daily records (hours and vehicle checks) are efficiently kept and monitored.
- Liaising and negotiating with customers and suppliers.

Applicant Requirements:
- The successful candidate must have a strong Logistics Management background and have previously been responsible for a fleet of vehicles and drivers.
- Experience of dealing with budgets.
- Experience of planning efficient routes for vehicles.
- Understanding of Transport Management.
- Experience of managing a fleet of vans, 3.5 tonne, 7.5 tonne and 18 tonne vehicles (around 40 in the fleet).
- Health and safety aware.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Sound communicator.
- Self-motivated, able to work using own initiative.
- Enjoy problem solving.
- Able to work and remain calm under pressure.
- Hold full clean driving licence.
- Flexible with regards to working hours.

- Up to £50,000 Salary.
- Monday – Friday 7am – 4pm.
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.
