Introduction:
Our client is a leading provider of engineering solutions to a number of industries. Due to continued expansion they now have a requirement for a Field Service Engineer to join their team. The successful candidate will travel to customer sites in the North East and will carry out the installation and repair of all customer welding equipment onsite. Candidates must be flexible in their approach to travel to client’s sites as and when required.

This presents itself as an ideal opportunity to join an established company and, although not essential, could be well suited for a person who has previously served in the Armed Forces i.e. Army (REME Electronics Technician), Royal Navy (Avionics / Electronics Technician), or Royal Air Force/RAF (Avionics) with a strong electrical / electronic engineering background.

Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the internal service team to ensure that all hire and repaired equipment is carried out safely and cost effectively.
- Repair of all customer equipment on site and to support internal service as and when required.
- Work with internal service to ensure all hire equipment is suitable for use.
- Responsible for carrying out of calibrations on site and in the workshop as and when required.
- Act as the technical support engineer for the sales team, service team and inspection and test team.
- Act as telephone contact for advise to clients who call the service department.
- Responsible for the service and upkeep of the service van, ensuring that it is presentable at all times.
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and to the appropriate standard and quality.
- Act in a support role to the production, inspection/test and internal service departments as requested by senior management.
- Be aware of sales opportunities and to continue to build up a portfolio of potential clients.
- Act as a point of sales for those customers as identified in the portfolio and to visit them when not on service duty.
- Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with company Health & Safety regulations.
- Maintain an awareness of company Quality Assurance requirements.
- Take a positive and proactive approach to the promotion of all aspects of the company.
- Please note you must have a flexible approach to working and travelling around the North East.

Applicant Requirements:
Essential:
- Proven electrical/electronic engineering background with strong fault finding and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to fault find down to PCB level.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work on own initiative.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good organisation and planning skills.
- Enjoy problem solving.
- Flexible approach to work and travel.
- Able to work and remain calm under pressure.
- IT literate.
- Full clean driving licence.
