Our client is a well-established leading specialist training provider, they deliver many key services including consultancy and competency based training for a wide variety of industrial sectors including Oil, Gas and Offshore industries. They now have an immediate requirement for a Technical Sales Engineer to be based at their site in Middlesbrough, Teeside, to travel to client’s sites both within the UK and worldwide in order to discuss, understand and interpret both existing and potential customer’s technical requirements in relation to our client’s training services.

This presents itself as an ideal opportunity to join an established company and, although not essential, could be well suited for a person who has previously served in the Armed Forces i.e Royal Navy, Royal Air Force, Army, REME and has a background within an electrical engineering / HV role and / or has worked in a similar role.

Please note that you will be required to carry out nationwide and overseas travel therefore a flexible approach to work and travel is essential.

- Assist the Technical Sales Manager in fulfilling all aspects of their duties.
- Search and identify new clients and liaise with Marketing / Sales team.
- Participate in and conduct technical meetings with clients / potential clients to ascertain their training needs both at the office and at clients’ sites as appropriate in the UK and overseas.
- Developing long-term relationships with clients through managing and interpreting their requirements.
- Generate technical sales proposals / pricing / quotations and progressing these to purchase orders, liaising with other members of staff as appropriate and to ensure that clients’ technical and other needs are fully met.
- Maintain accurate records of customer communication and sales activity in the Customer Relationship Management database and established internal communication systems.
- Attending and / or participate in trade shows, conferences and other technical marketing / sales events in the UK and overseas, as appropriate.
- Participate in the implementation of the company promotional strategy.
- Prepare regular reports for management, including sales calls / visits and other progress reports as appropriate.
- Undertake any other duties allocated from time to time by Senior Management.
- Deputise where necessary for the Technical Sales Manager.
- Prompt provision of technical and commercial information, quotations / proposals and the development of long-term customer relationships is crucial to this role.
- Work flexibly and assist the Directors in complying with various statutory requirements.

Applicant Requirements:
- The successful candidate will ideally hold a relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering and / or a strong background of electrical engineering within an industrial environment.
- Proven demonstrable experience of High and Low Voltage switchgear operation.
- Logical thinker and innovative in approach.
- Strong background within a similar role.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work on own initiative.
- Enjoy problem solving.
- Flexible approach to work – willing to travel nationwide / overseas when required.
- Able to work and remain calm under pressure.
- Full clean driving licence.
- Previous experience within a technical sales role is desirable.
