Introduction:
Our client is a leading solutions provider in the field of Communications. They are now recruiting for an Engineering Manager to join their team at their site in North West London. The successful candidate will have responsibility for all aspects of the engineering function of the company including managing the engineering department, project planning and management. Due to the nature of the role candidates must be willing to undertake security clearance.

Although not essential, this may be well suited to candidates coming from an (ex-military) background i.e. Army (Royal Signals), Navy or Royal Air Force (RAF) career are encouraged to apply, especially those with a Radio Communications Engineering (PMR/DMR) background. It is essential that candidates have commercial radio experience within an engineering management capacity.

Responsibilities:
- Daily planning for completion of field engineering tasks, including preparation of all technical and Health & Safety documentation.
- Daily technical and project planning support for the company’s sales team.
- All aspects of HR and payroll within the engineering department.
- Forward planning and organisation of all engineers for pager duties and overseas travel.
- Reporting and efficiency analysis of electronic time sheet management for the company’s engineers.
- Co-operative work with the operations department for planning and delivery of sales orders.
- Ongoing training and development of the engineering department.
- Review, development and implementation of engineering standard operating procedures.
- Attendance of weekly management meetings and completion of the actions that arise.
- Upholding engineering standards across the department; including site visits, system inspections and document reviews.
- Support of the sales team for tender submissions; to include technical input, engineering planning and customer meetings.
- Ensure that all required documentation is correctly used and filed by both the sales and engineering departments to operate within the guidelines of the company’s ISO accreditations.

Applicant Requirements:
Essential:
- Proven engineering background within the field of telecommunications.
- RF installation experience.
- Sound knowledge of PMR/DMR products.
- Excellent client facing skills with very strong verbal & written communication skills.
- Keen eye for detail.
- Good planning and organisational skills.
- Able to work under pressure in delivering service & response activities to meet deadlines.
- Flexible approach.
- Ability to work and remain calm under pressure.
- Ability to manage change.
- IT literate.
- Hold a clean driving licence.
Desirable:
- RF product manufacturer training/certification.
- IP networking experience and qualifications.
- Project management experience and qualifications.
