My client is a leading provider of network security solutions and now have an immediate requirement for a CISCO Network Infrastructure Engineer at their site in Hereford.  This is a permanent position with an attractive salary along with benefits as listed below. Monday to Friday work, no weekends.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrable background as a CISCO Network Engineer having led major projects including the design, build and delivery of the network.  You will have a firm understanding of the security solution and will lead a team of engineers as the network grows.

This presents itself as an ideal opportunity to join an established company and, although not essential, could be well suited for a person who has previously worked within a military or Defence environment.  Applicants meeting the requirements below are encouraged to make an immediate application.

- Provide 2nd and 3rd line operational support and administration of the company's local and remote network estate.
- In collaboration with our service partners have the ability to design networks and Implement client network and security configurations from low level designs.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve serious service incidents, including hardware & software faults.
- Support the resolution of problems caused by errors in the network, minimising the adverse effect on the managed service, whilst communicating with key stakeholders and identifying solutions to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
- Provide status updates to the Service Desk about client-impacting network problems, and ensure that internal/client SLAs are met.
- Measure and report against KPIs relating to network performance and capacity levels.
- Research, formulate and make recommendations for network development, including infrastructure expansion, security provision, service reporting and monitoring.
- Ensure that all network changes are validated and approved prior to release.
- Co-ordinate scheduled network maintenance, liaising with the Service Managers to ensure that the company’s contractual obligations are not compromised by planned work.
- Optimise the capability of the network infrastructure, delivering cost-effective and sustainable levels of availability which exceed SLAs.
- Assist with the management and administration of computer security systems and their associated software, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, cryptography systems and anti-virus software.
- Develop and implement the processes and procedures necessary to build a world class network service.

Applicant Requirements:
- Academic qualification desirable
- CCNP (Routing & Switching), or CCNA working towards CCNP.
- Minimum 5-years hands-on experience working with Cisco IOS and Cisco Routers and Switch products, coupled with experience of designing and building low-level Routing and Switched Cisco configurations.
- Practical experience of physical cabling & patching with a good understanding of cabling standards.
- Excellent understanding of Cisco LAN/WAN technologies including a general understanding of PSTN, X.25, ISDN and ADSL leased lines.
- Strong understanding of the following Routing Technologies: MPLS, DMVPN, BGP4, OSPF and IPv6 with a thorough understanding of the following Network technologies to include: DHCP, HSRP, DNS, NAT, IEEE 802.1X, QoS, load balancing, packet capture and analysis. 
- Demonstrable knowledge, configuration and support of network security products to include: Cisco ASA Firewalls, IPS/IDS, Nexus, F5 load balancers, Cisco ACS, Cyberoam and PCI-DSS.
- Excellent understanding of the following security technologies: IPSec, IKEv2 Security, SSL and ACLs.
- Implementation and support knowledge of network management systems, including support of SNMP, Netflow and Syslog protocols.
- Understanding and awareness of PCI Data Security Standards.
- Experience working within an ITIL framework.
- Strong understanding of Information Security standards, able to respond appropriately to security breaches and recommend/implement changes in security policies and practices.
- Ability to create professional documentation illustrating network design concepts & solutions.
- Experience of leading a team, with effective delegation and coaching skills.
- Ability to gain SC security clearance if not already held.
