Introduction:
My client is one of the UK's leading independent food companies, They are now looking to recruit a Chief Engineer to work at one of their Food processing plants, Based at their site just outside of Perth, You will have a previous proven background as an Engineering Manager and be responsible for Managing and providing an efficient Engineering Function which supports maximum operational efficiency of the Factories in a safe and healthy working environment.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain efficient operation of all Plant and equipment within the plant.
- To advise / support the Regional Director in the Strategic Development of the Engineering Function to meet the demands of a fast changing Processing Operation
- Develop and maintain policies & procedures to ensure legislative compliance
- Provide solutions to environmental issues as they are encountered or foreseen.
- Actively make time to support, motivate and coach the Engineering Management / Supervisory team to ensure objectives are fully understood and to monitor, praise and encourage them in meeting these objectives.
- To develop/revise operational and working practices, ensuring that the Engineering Team comply with laid down standards and optimal maintenance cover is provided at all times
- To ensure plant is maintained, new plant is purchased and supplier relationships are managed to control repair and maintenance costs
- To analyse the repair and maintenance budget to identify areas where reductions can be made.
- Budgetary capital requirements and projects in conjunction with the Regional Finance Manager and Regional Director.
- Ensures that the engineering information systems are effectively developed and managed to maximise their effectiveness
- Provide the Regional Director and Regional Management Team with regular reports, as required.
- Ensures that others views are discussed and questions / ideas are responded to.
- Communicates openly whilst being mindful of business sensitivities
- Adopts different styles of communication to suite the audience, but always communicates with respect and integrity
- Contributes to overall drive within business including contributing to areas outside of their immediate area of responsibility
- Remains focused through difficult and challenging times
- Maintains sense of proportion and perspective under difficult circumstances
- Sets high / challenging goals with appropriate measures
- Shows flexibility in being able to manage a number of priorities and agendas
- To develop and seek to continually improve the Health & Safety culture of the site.
- Provide responsibility for the Health & Safety of all Engineering team members and visitors to the engineering department (Contractors, Sales persons, etc)
- To ensure that Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work are available and updated/ amended in accordance with changes in legislation
- Provide management of the `Permit to Work Procedure` to minimise risk
Applicant Requirements:
- Manage and supervise Multi Disciplined Engineering teams.
- Experienced in Budgetary Control
- Ability to manage a Project function to successfully deliver agreed projects on time and within budget
- Ability to Plan, Develop, and Implement, the Company's policies and goals.
- Ability and awareness of implementing a clear and effective environmental strategy.
- Proven with delivering Targets, Objectives and KPI's.
- You will be self-motivated and innovative in approach.
- Proven Mechanical or Electrical Engineering background.
- Proven knowledge of Engineering Projects/Maintenance/Repair/PPM's Within a High volume Production / Manufacturing environment.
- Previous knowledge of working within Food environment, However, Not essential.
- Fully conversant with Engineering, Environmental, People, Policies/Goals, Financial, Managing Information, Communication and Health and Safety issues.
