Our client is a leading company providing electrical and mechanical services on the Falklands Islands in direct support of the Armed Forces community. Our client now requires a Mechanical Fitter to join their team.

This is a 27 month contract, within this period you will be entitled to 3, five week holiday breaks with flights to and from the UK included.
Job Responsibilities:
The successful Mechanical Fitter candidate will ensure the safe and efficient mechanical operation, maintenance, repair and installation of diesel driven power generation plant and associated mechanical auxiliary equipment. This may also include the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of mechanical hotel services at remote sites. The following is a summary of responsibilities:
- To ensure that all machinery, equipment and systems in the post holders care functions within the specified operating parameters.
- To overhaul, maintain, repair, install and commission for service diesel engines for electrical power generation and pumping.
- To operate and maintain mechanical hotel services and infrastructure at remote locations.
- To produce accurate mandatory and statutory maintenance and service records, also assist in producing reports associated with the above equipment.
- Adhere to all Health and Safety policies.
Applicant Requirements: Essential:
- Must have achieved a minimum qualification of City & Guilds part 2 or 3, or NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a related mechanical engineering subject.
- Must have had post apprenticeship experience working within the mechanical engineering or associated industries.
Desirable:
Mechanical experience and knowledge gained working in any of the following industries would be an advantage.
- Operation, maintenance, repair or installation of diesel driven generators and associated auxiliary equipment ranging in size from 100kW to 2MW or larger either directly employed by the diesel engine manufacturer or as a contractor, or by the operator
- Maintenance and repair of diesel driven plant and machinery as used in the construction industry.
- Maintenance and repair of diesel driven heavy goods vehicles or buses.
- Maintenance, repair and installation of machinery and equipment in the following industries, petro chemical, shipping, shipbuilding, heavy industrial plants, power generation or similar.
- Knowledge of the MoD safe systems of work and Permit to Work system would be desirable but not necessary providing a comprehensive knowledge of other industry safe working practices and safety procedures has been gained.
- Current full driving licence.
