Introduction:
Our client is a leading specialist mechanical and electrical engineering and facilities services company, with more than 100 years of experience. They provide a total life cycle of care for a facility, including the design, build and installation of mechanical and electrical systems, then the ongoing maintenance of these services and the provision of integrated facilities management.
Our client now has a requirement for a Business Development Manager to be based in Eastleigh, Hampshire
Responsibilities:
Responsible to the Divisional Director you will assist in achieving or exceeding sales targets for the Communications, Fire and Security department within Specialist Services in line with the agreed budget and plan set. This is a UK wide position with a requirement to integrate our client's Specialist Services into other divisions within their UK group. The role will involve liaising with several Project Managers, Estimators, Senior Managers and Directors within our client's group.
Principle Accountabilities:
- Target Key internal existing clients where opportunities exist to provide Specialist Fire Data or Security Services.
- Seek out and pursue opportunities for the Fire, Security and Communications Department and liaise with the Divisional Director as appropriate.
- Provide focussed support to the existing client portfolio, seeking to develop and secure further business.
- Develop and maintain contacts at the appropriate levels within the property and facilities industry generally, to exploit business opportunities for the business.
- Assist the Business Development Director (BDD) by monitoring sales activity in the Division and generally advise the Divisional Director of trends and advise on improvements /alterations necessary to achieve budget.
- Prepare and submit monthly reports on sales activities for presentation to the BDD and Divisional Director.
- Attend and report at monthly Regional Sales Meetings organised by the BDD. Monthly review meetings will also be held with the Divisional Director.
- Generate sales opportunities where clients are seeking tenders on a selective basis or, preferably, a negotiated basis.
- Co-ordinate and lead sales presentations.
- Orchestrate and chair contract launch meetings to disseminate full and detailed information relating to new business opportunities.
- Collate market information and intelligence.
- Submit timely sales data to the BDD for submission to the Group Board.
- Actively participate in the development and expansion of existing contracts and customers.
Planning & Budgeting
- Utilise the corporate sales tracking and reporting procedure/system.
- Discuss and agree with the Divisional Director/ Business Development Director suitable sales and marketing strategies to assist in achieving budgeted turnover and profitability for the business unit.
- Close working relationship with the Operations Managers and Divisional Director in regard to Business Development Reporting and Research requests.
- Close working relationship with Department Managers or their staff, other business development staff and marketing support personnel at Group Head Office.
- Management of Estimation.
Key Result Areas
- Performance will be primarily judged on achievement of agreed sales targets for the business unit.
- Additionally, other performance indicators will be considered in overall review of annual performance.
- Quality of proposal material, customer care and handover are critical functions of the role.
Candidate Requirements:
- Experience in leading and managing large scale bids of over £1m is essential.
- Demonstrable experience of operating successfully at corporate level with large multi national blue chip clients.
- Intimate knowledge of customer operations / financials and specialist sources of information.
- Demonstrative leadership and managerial skills.
- Working Knowledge of CRM tools desirable.
- Basic understanding of JDE / ERP systems desirable.
- The ideal candidates will have excellent communication and Strong influencing skills
- The ability to plan and organise whilst sustaining effective relationships
- Be very driven and determined, Reliable, Responsible and Resilient
- Have excellent strategic awareness
- Hold a Valid full driving licence
- Be flexible towards a Requirement for UK wide travel
