Introduction:
Our client, a major UK Shipbuilding company, requires a Health, Safety and Environmental Officer. Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager this position will be responsible for supporting the delivery of a comprehensive occupational health and safety function.
Responsibilities:
These responsibilities will include;
- Clearly communicating and advising on environmental and occupational health and safety policy,
- Developing and assisting on the implementation of safe working systems,
- Developing an environmental management system,
- Undertaking occupational H&S and Environmental audits,
- Carry out and supervise risk assessments and health surveillance programmes,
- Develop and implement workplace inspection programmes, monitoring and making recommendations as required,
- Lead investigation and provide reports on serious accidents and incidents,
- Manage and ensure that all fire precautions are implemented correctly,
- Input into reports for corporate governance,
- Deliver clarity, consistency and quality of HS&E delivery across the business,
- To keep current with, and understand all legislation relating to HS&E and provide interpretation and guidance,
- Contribute to the culture within the HS&E team.
Applicant Requirements:
- NEBOSH qualified and preferably hold an environmental qualification,
- Have previous experience in occupational health and safety, ideally gained in a manufacturing environment.
- Must be eligible to live and work in the UK
