Introduction:
My client is a leader in the supply of power generation systems in the Offshore Industry. They provide a range of comprehensive support services to their clients worldwide, including contract maintenance and product support. They are now looking for Diesel Service Technicians to join their team at their site in Aberdeen. Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance and overhaul of a range of heavy industrial and marine diesel engines. Please note although this position is predominantly based in Aberdeen, you will be required to travel overseas as part of your normal working duties. Therefore candidates need to be flexible.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out the installation, commissioning, overhaul and maintenance of a wide range of diesel engines, ensuring that all work is carried out in accordance with HSEQ requirements.
- Act as the lead person on site to plan and complete works.
- Liaise with onsite customer representatives.
- Responsible for conducting risk assessments and ensuring safe working practices.
- Responsible for carrying out quality control checks on all work and documentation completed by all personnel on team.
- Ensure that all jobs are carried out within the times allocated to the work, complying with current procedures.
- Liaise with customers in order to monitor effectiveness of service and customer satisfaction.
- Advise on outstanding spare parts for the jobs in progress to the Service Supervisor.
- Report in on completion of work in order to receive new work tasks.
- Monitor all stock requirements to ensure efficient and effective usage and waste.
- Completion of reports on completion of jobs in accordance with company guidelines.
- Highlight and report any deficiencies within the department and put forward reasonable recommendations.
- Facilitate Apprentice development "On the job" training.
- Attend departmental meetings and training courses when required.
- Ensure all accidents and near misses within the department are reported in the logbook and with the line manager.
Applicant Requirements:
- Mechanically biased engineer with relevant engineering qualifications or time served apprenticeship.
- Previous experience in a similar role as a Team Leader within an engineering service environment.
- Diesel generator/engine experience.
- Previous working experience with EMD and Detroit diesel engines would be advantageous.
- Working knowledge of health and safety with the ability to carry out risk assessments, ensure safe working practices and carry out quality checks.
- Excellent customer service skills.

- Self motivated.
